For anyone who is wondering how to cook a lovo (Fijian Earth Oven) here are a few pics. We had some guests last September, and a big family get together. In the morning, the pig arrived. You can imagine my surprise when I saw the trailer backing up with my brother in law driving, and […]
It is always worth taking a bit of a walk off the beaten track if you are staying in Fiji. To me, it seems that there is the Fiji that many Fijians think that travellers want to see, and the other Fiji, which is intensely interesting but not normally on display. When staying in Savusavu, […]
Afternoon sunset on the beach near Sigatoka Town, Fiji. The sunset was so clear and intense, it seemed like God had a spotlight right on me! Mustn’t have been my time….
Sunrise over Savusavu, Fiji. It is only when the sun is rising that you get a full idea of the depth of mountain ranges behind this sleepy yachting town. Savusavu is a picture perfect safe haven for boats. Situated on Vanua Levu, the second largest island of the Fiji Islands, it has a special place […]
Watch this ad agency video – World’s Toughest Job – Would you apply? This is worth watching to the end. Thank you Tommy for sending it to me. I wanted to share it with everyone!
Alice there is a need to re-educate the people of Fiji to protect and nurture the environment. For most people the environment is taken for granted-the responsibility is left to Nature.Sadly the people of Fiji have defaulted this responsibility and turn a blind eye to its destruction.pollution, contamination etc.It is so easy to slip into a typical Fiji attitude of “someone else will look after it “, “someone else will take care of it.” The onus is on each of us not to trash our lsland Nation somehow for the 21st Century to encourage, aspire and value the surroundings,we have been blessed with-the Air,the Land ,the Plants and the Sea.Sadly we have turn Fiji into a gigantic Rubbish Dump!!!.

You are so right Osea. I am happy that you took the time to visit my blog. I have many posts on just the same topic, and I agree with you – the responsibility lies with us. I would be interested in your comments on some of my other posts regarding the environment. Perhaps you can refer others to the blog and the Cleanupfiji facebook page and we can start to make a difference. If you want to organise recycling in your island, or village, please let me know and I can give you some contacts.
